I recently downloaded an osCommerce online store template to set up a website for a friend, however after uploading all the files via FTP and proceeding to the install.php file, I get an error that says "Testing database connection"...however the test never ends and it never produces a problem report.
I have tried changing the permissions of the files, checking my hosting provider to see if the server is capable of hosting an OsCommerce store, which it is and there are many others who have stores on their servers and I have also checked that my database details are correct.
I have used Zen Cart many times and have never had this problem.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I can't seem to get past it.
