Oscars 2011 Talkback - Animated Feature Film

However, that's not the case. Monster's Inc lost to Shrek and Cars lost to Happy Feet (not that Happy Feet was the most deserving film, but I blame Sony for not pushing Paprika at all until the May after the Oscars, thus missing its chance of a nomination). Also, there were the two years Pixar had no film released, and Spirited Away and Wallace and Gromit got rewards. And really, outside of Nemo beating Triplets of Belleville, all of Pixar's wins have been pretty well-earned. I can practically assure you that Cars 2 isn't going to be winning next year. What might? Possibly Rango, which looks enjoyably quirky, but if Sony gets a good release together, possibly The Dream Machine. And wouldn't it be nice for Satoshi Kon to win an Oscar, albeit this late?
 
I'm also wondering if 2011 might be the year that Pixar finally drops the Oscar ball. I don't have much faith in any of the mainstream releases that are coming (I'm curious about Rango, but only time will tell if it's actually good). Since we are getting an English-dubbed release of Arrietty the Borrower, however, I'm wondering if that film will be the most serious contender for next year's award.

EDIT: Actually, I just read that Arrietty isn't getting a wide release until February 2012. EPIC DISAPPOINTMENT.
 
Unless Kung-Fu Panda 2 turns out to be a masterpiece (which I doubt), I'm putting money down on Winnie the Pooh to win the award in 2012.

Assuming there is an award in 2012.
 
I like to think Monster's Inc was before Pixar became the trendy go-to company we know them as now. Back when Shrek was on top and Dreamworks started shifting to more Shrek-like films. And Cars is arguably Pixar's worst film, so that makes sense. Aside from those two, though, they win every time they have a film in. I think Toy Story 3 is pretty much a shoe in.

Shame Summer Wars wasn't nominated (assuming it was eligible), but ah well.
 
Oh, I remembered one other Pixar win that wasn't really deserved: Ratatouille was good, but overrated, and nothing compared to Persepolis.

That said, in absence of Summer Wars and depending on how good The Illusionist is, Toy Story 3 seems like it's a worthy winner this year.
 
I think the best nominations were last year with 5 Films nominated wish they had done it again but obviously Toy Story 3 will win (well deserved) but I think 2 more Films could of been given some respect nomination.

I'd like to the nominations be Toy Story 3, How to Train your Dragon, The Illusionist, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, and Tangled..
