Monster's Inc lost to Shrek and Cars lost to Happy Feet (not that Happy Feet was the most deserving film, but I blame Sony for not pushing Paprika at all until the May after the Oscars, thus missing its chance of a nomination). Also, there were the two years Pixar had no film released, and Spirited Away and Wallace and Gromit got rewards. And really, outside of Nemo beating Triplets of Belleville, all of Pixar's wins have been pretty well-earned. I can practically assure you that Cars 2 isn't going to be winning next year. What might? Possibly Rango, which looks enjoyably quirky, but if Sony gets a good release together, possibly The Dream Machine. And wouldn't it be nice for Satoshi Kon to win an Oscar, albeit this late?
