Looks like I'm on a fast track to my second Back surgery. I've spent the last 4 1/2 months trying all the traditional methoRAB to avoid surgery but nothing has worked. I DO NOT WANT SURGERY, but if I have to I will.
My injury came from a worked related accident so it's under workers comp, therefore, I dont have as much say in who I go see. That being said are Ortho surgeons competent to do spinal surgery or should I insist on a Neurosurgeon?

I've been thru 6 spine surgeries. I've had surgery on both the cervical and lurabar regions, several times.
The 1st two surgeries were done by a neuro surgeon. The others were done by an orthopedist. As long as the surgeon specializes in spine problems I am not sure if it makes a difference which one you use.
I've had Harrington RoRAB placed in my cervical and lurabar regions both done by orthopedic surgeons.
To me it comes down to what doctor you find and who you feel comfortable with doing the surgery. Take into account their experience etc when deciding. But to me it makes no difference. But thats just my opionion

Both Orthopedic Spine Surgeons and Neurosurgeons can work on the entire length of the spine. In either case make sure all they do is spine work.

I personally prefer Orthopedic Spine Surgeons, but that's just been the doctor's that I have found work best for me. I did see one NS who only does spine here and he was really good but my PCP recommended an OSS he liked and I went with that surgeon.
