Original Xbox games on New Xbox 360 with 4Gb flash hard drive. How do I get it to work?

I have the new Xbox with the internal 4Gb flash drive for memory. There is no port for an external hard drive, which it says is needed to play original xbox games, if I buy an external flash drive will that work for the hard drive issue? Are there any other ways I can make this work?
