Original Motorola Droid Question !?

I received my replacement of my Motorola Droid in the mail yesterday, so I switched back to it. While I was waiting for a replacement, I was using a Droid X. I was able to root this phone, and I really liked what you could do with it. Now I'm back to the original Droid and it seems I am unable to root it. I'm currently on firmware 2.2.1 . Is there any way to root this phone?
I have a mac computer if that changes anything haha
 
You need PC's to root the original Droid I'm pretty sure. I also had that problem :/ But luckily I had an old dinosaur age dell I used. But if you get access to a PC, look on google for 'rooting 2.2.1 droid' and you should be able to find a tutorial/walkthrough.
