Organic Chemistry Synthesis Question?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to do the following synthesis:

My way is way too convoluted:

1) POCl3; Pyrimidine [to eliminate]
2) Br2
3) DBU (excess) [double elimination to form alkyne]
4) NaH
5) Br-CH3
6) H2; Lindlar's Catalyst
7) MCPBA
8) H3O+

haha, I'm sure that there's a much better way.
