I just moved out of a rental house in Portland, Oregon. When we moved in the house, the wood floor was in really bad shape with steins and scratches. The land lord and I went over the house as we moved out of the house upon cleaning and she said that everything is in good order. But just yesterday, before the expiration of the 31-day time limit, she is claiming that we created a big scratch on the wood floor and pet stein. We did not notice any of this, but she is insisting that it was our cause. She now refuses to return our deposit because she claims that we created the damage and said that she needs to bring someone to fix the damage. We did not do this, but we can not prove whether this damage was created before we moved into the house or after we moved out of the house (i.e. cleaning crew that she hired to clean the house or painter to paint the interior of the house)
