I just got a garnishment letter from my HR dept from a car that I defaulted in payment on 9 years ago.I was garnished at my last workplace for it about 6 years ago, but changed jobs and haven't heard from them till now, thankfully. I have 5 kids and am the sole provider so I don't have the money to pay them back yet. They originally served me for this in Dec 2000. Is the Oregon statute of limitations up in Dec for the garnishment? Can they really take 25% of my paycheck? How much would Bankruptcy cost for this $5000 debt? How fast could I do it? Help!
