I have found out that the library's shelving test for a job requires you to order books and cd's in the most efficient way as quickly as possible. The books include, fiction and non-fiction as well as other languages.
How would you order these books?
(Order as in "put in order")
Sorry I think you misunderstood me.
What I meant was the library gives you about thirty books and cd's and you have to stack them up in order which you think is most efficient as quickly as you can. It's not the actual work yet, it's just a performance testing thing.

Fiction: Novels are always shelved alphabetically by the author's last name, then first initial.

Non-fiction: Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) For those, just put them in numerical order.

Foreign language: I don't know

CDs: my guess would be by classification: jazz, classical, country, pop, rock, etc. and then by artist

I think there is some system you need to learn...probably something more modern than the card catalog system..our library had an internet ordering sytem that the library renter coud enter and the librarian just had to contact the student/card carrier when it came in..if you really want to know look it up on your local library website and see how they operate?
