Orange's 2 for 1 offer

The other week me and a friend were refused being able to use our Orange Wednesday by some dick at Cineworld purely because it was a forwarded message. His reasoning behind refusing us was because the phone said 'Vodaphone' along the bottom (it was an unlocked phone...).

Surely, seeing as the code can only be used once, there shouldn't be a problem with this. I've been doing it for years:rolleyes:
 
Nope, he's not quite right at all.

It doesn't have to be on an Orange phone at all. A code is a code. If it works, it doesn't matter whether you get it on an Orange phone, a Vodafone phone, or scribbled on the back of a bar receipt.
 
It wasn't though. The phone may have said 'Vodaphone' on it, but it was an unlocked phone and actually had an 'o2' sim in it. The cashier doesn't have any right to press the back up button on my phone to check what sim is in it. He didn't even ask to see this, he just flat out refused.

At the end of the day, Orange have got their 25p (or whatever it costs to text the Orange Wednesday service), so i just fail to see the problem with the cinema honouring a valid Orange Wednesday code.
 
I work at Cineworld, we NEVER take forwarded texts, they weren't being a dick, they were doing what they're told to do! The easy way to get round that is to change the sender name to 241. Most staff don't check the home screen to see what network the phone is on.
 
LooieENG, I'm afraid it's not as cheap as that.

Cineworld started charging a top-up cost to ALL customers - even Unlimited Card holders - for all 3D films earlier in the summer. Unlimited Card holders now have to dig into their pockets for this every time they want to see a 3D film.

So basically if you got to see a 2D movie, it won't cost you a penny (bar whatever you're charged for the Orange Wednesday text);

But if you go to see a 3D film both you and your friend will have to pay the 3D topup charge (plus the cost of the OW text).

So much for 'Unlimited', eh!
 
Where I worked we were always told a valid code is a valid told. It has been obtained by an Orange customer in the proper way. I know Odeon and Showcase staff not only don't enforce that "rule", they're not even informed of them.
 
What if I put my orange sim card in my phone, get the text back, then put my Vodafone sim back in, will that be okay? Or can I pop my orange sim card in just before I go in, cause I don't wanna carry 2 phones around :/
 
I just rang them, and they said it does work for 3d films, and the glasses are included, so you get a ticket + glasses, and then get another ticket + glasses free
 
My local Cineworld can't even be bothered to look at the screen, they just ask you to read it out to them.

If you want to use a forwarded code, not that you should of course, then just amend the address book entry for the person who sent you the text to 241.
