opt in mailing list php question?

i am trying to make an opt in mailing list.
i would like to do this by writing the script so that when ever someone inputs there email they
will automatically get added as a contact in my gmail. i will be managing my gmail accounts by thunder bird. is this possible?
or what are some other alternatives i can take with thunder bird to get this to work?
