Opinions - What would you have done?

I have to out on Thursday as my husband is getting knocked out to get a tooth out and I need to go with him and I usually ask my mum to watch the kids but she can't as she has th hospital, so I asked my MIL she doesn't see the kids that often because she rarely comes to visit so I am a bit nervous about leaving them with her I would be fine with it but my twins have been ill my daughter has croup and her twin brother has a really bad cold so they are really clingy. So I have asked my mum to pop in on her way back from the hospital to help his mum out and my husband freaked saying I don't trust his mum which I answered with the fact that she rarely see's them and they are ill. My mum visits us 2/3 times a week and has helped out loads since the were born so the have a real connecting with her.
Am I being overprotective or a cow about this?
