Opinions on Happy Tree Friends

I never understood the appeal. It's just cute cartoon animals being murdered every episode.

I saw a few episodes back in 2005 or so and I got bored of it pretty quickly. I mean, there are literally hundereds, maybe thousands of these cartoons, and they're all the same. At the time, I preferred Retarded Animal Babies, but I lost interest in that a while ago. I don't know, I just lost interest.

While we're on the topic of Homestar Runner, I found an interview with Matt Chapman where he talks about HTF. He makes a pretty good point:

It's probably the only gory thing I can watch without cringing. Sometimes it makes me laugh; sometimes it stirs my masochistic side. "Ooh, now have his other eyeball pop out! Now have him split in two!" I think some episodes are better and more satisfying than others, but the shock factor hasn't worn out on me. Granted, I was a latecomer to the series.

I never checked it out past little segments I've seen because it just seems too gratuitously gory and sadistic for my tastes. I've avoided it the same way I used to avoid that JoeCartoon stuff kids liked back when I was in school. My tv was pretty much stuck on G4 back when this aired and this was the show that used to make me click away.

It reminds me a lot of those two cuddly characters on Duckman that would get abused but somebody just cranked up the cruelty 3 notches.
