Opinions on Best Comedy Movies Ever

40 Year Old Virgin
Team America
Zoolander - just me who likes that one??
Airplane
Liar Liar
Anchorman
Role Models
Step Brothers
Napoleon Dynamite
The Naked Gun

Going back a few years...

The Sunshine Boys, with Walter Mathau and George Burns. A Neil Simon comedy about two retired vaudeville actors enticed to come out of retirement for a TV special, recreating their famous double-act.

Problem is...they hate each other, and have not spoken for about 40 years!

Mathau is excellent as the mean-spirited, crotchety old git, and Burns is a perfect foil for him. Their scenes together are a masterclass in subtle comedy acting...and the final scene with the TV special is hilarious.

Glad someone also mentioned It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World...that's been a favorite of mind since I was a kid. It's a who's who of Hollywood comedy greats, and is a kind of 'everything but the kitchen sink' kind of comedy...some incredible set-pieces, stunts and acts of wanton descruction for a film of it's era.

Fans of that movie may also appreciate

Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines.
The Great Race
Monte Carlo Or Bust

The Cannonball Run movies and to a lesser degree Rat Race tried (unsuccessfully IMO) to duplicate these star studded, anything-goes comedy epics.

Bearing in mind that comedy films are often only funny the first or second times you watch because they are so visual...

Naked Gun series
Man with Two Brains
Planes Trains & Automobiles
Bridget Jones (first couple of watches only)
Kung Fu Panda
Shrek (1&2)
Ice Age
Up

Off the top of my head, the ones I like most are:

Little Miss Sunshine
The King of Comedy
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
Zombieland
Borat (first viewing of this was amazingly funny, the second not so much)
Clueless
Beetlejuice
