Opinions on As I Lay Dying?

Novembers Doom is a pretty good Doom band. not really my stile but I've been listening to them a lot lateley. slow with about half normal vocals and half death metal vocals. all I have is The Pale Haunt Departure but its growing on me.

Get Obsolete too. That album and Demanufacture are my 2 favorite albums from them.

You could check out Digimortal too, but that was kind of a downhill slope for them and the last album that Dino was on.

Archetype is a good album considering the bass player, Christian Olde Wolbers, took over the guitar parts. Still, I think Dino really helped make the Fear Factory sound, and since he left, the band just doesn't sound as synched up.

Transgression is probably my least favorite album from FF.

Best part of the new AILD are the guitars / drums. So tech and so perfect sounding

The chorus / melody (bassist i think) sounRAB like Sum41 now or some shit idk, still a pretty cool album

My faves on my mp3 player. I tend to like the metalcore style stuff that is more melodic than crushingly heavy or old-school style. Check some of them out:

If metal is gonna sound anything like Sum41, it's not metal...
just grab Burzum's "Filosofem" and listen to something actually raw and angry, yet somehow relaxingly hypnotic

I see, I will probably be checking that shit out soon. I need to expand on my doom metal, but Candlemass, Cathedral and My Dying Bride are pretty fucking awesome.

i think the fact that trivium completely turned 180degrees and could basically change their name to metallica without people even knowing is what killed their band

but i could be wrong

Nope, that's pretty much dead on. That's what turns me off to them all together, that they can't get an identity of their own. They try and be Metallica with Pantera's instruments.

While they're at it, they could rename The Crusade to...
