Opinions on a new PDA phone

Hey guys, new user, long time browser here.

So right now i have a motorolla slvr and a dell axim x3. The axims my mom's old pda and im using it for my emails and to keep track of my school work and schedule. Its actually working out really good for me.

My contract with cingular is due up in january and im going to make the move to a pda phone. I figured that I would just cut down on the amount of electronics I have to carry around and get a pda phone and give the slvr to my sister and the x3 back to my mother.

So heres what I need:
1. Wifi - To connect to my campus internet and around the apartment. I send alot of emails to my professors while im on campus so this is a must, so that it doesn't cost so much through cingular's plans.
2. Touch screen - I'd like to keep this, since im used to it on the axim i've gotten pretty good at navigating them and such.

Things I would like but aren't necessary:
1.Text Messaging - I do alot of this to, with the friends and such as im sure alot of you do to. I'd like a well accessable keypad, preferable a full one, and not one similar to my slvr (ABC = #1 keypad button ).
2. Ability to play mp3's / video - Granted I have a nice ipod that I use for this, but streaming music / video wouldn't hurt to have.

Im liking everything that the cingular 8525 has to offer ( HTC TyTn if im not mistaken ). It seems like it would be a good fit. I also like the blackberry pearl but I am under the impression that it does not have wifi or a touch screen ? Can I get some conformation on this ? What about the treo 680 ? No wifi ? No touchscreen ? Confirmation again would be nice. The downfall to the 8525 is the amount of money its going to cost, i could recoup some of it by selling my slvr for a few bucks, but nothing to large...

Any opinions on a different phone or any good or bad comments about the TyTn would be superb.

Thanks for taking the time to lead me the correct way.

You get what you pay for so i'd have to say the 8525. But since money is a partial issue and if you could sacrafice the touch screen id say try the nokia E61. It has everything you need with a cheaper price tag. plus its unlocked and much slimmer than the rest. dont get me wrong though im still longing to get a 8525. good luck!

You will need to have some sort of data plan, one of the unlimited ones are probably better. I think the current rates are 39.99 for the PDA phone (8125/8525), 29.99 for the smartphone (Blackjack) and 29.99 for Blackberry connect.

If you have an unlimited data plan, why do you need wifi? As long as you have a good signal you can send/receive email, surf, etc., basically the same thing as wifi, with less battery usage.

If you do a lot of text messaging, make sure you have a plan that includes that, otherwise you will charged 10 or 15 cents per.

The BB Pearl uses SureType which takes some getting used to, according to many of the posts here. You will either love it or hate it. A QWERTY keyboard might work best.

If you are staying with Cingular and if you can live without the touch screen, look at the Samsung Blackjack or if you have to have it, look at the 8525. The Blackjack is cheaper than the 8525 ans uses a less expensive dataplan.
