Go for it. Any bike would be good for your first. It's god enough to be nipping in and around traffic going through town.
I have a Kinroad xt18-50, it wouldn't pull away fast at all but going through town I would be going round all the cars, buses, vans anything in my way. You'll find on any bike you can always get through the gaps.
