Hi. I hope it's okay that I post a question regarding my son. Today was his 7th day on on Suboxone - 3, 2 mg pills a day. He also started an intense out-patient program last week also which is a 4 day program (weRAB. and weekenRAB off). At the beginning, he was very relieved that he told me and my husband and got everything out in the open and was very excited to get into a program so that he could get off the oxycontins. He's told me he was taking approx. 1-2 80's a day since May of this year. My question is that yesterday and today he seems depressed (which would be day's 6 and 7 of taking Suboxone and day 9 of being off the oxycontins). Is depression something that can occur? I surely would love some advice. Thanks!

Hello and welcome!

You are more than welcome to post here about your son! This place is a great resource to use for these types of questions.

When I got off of the pain meRAB I had a lot of depression for about the first month.. however, I was not on suboxone... Maybe some other people on here can give you more information on that! When I was coming off the meRAB it seemed like it put my entire body and mind thru the ringer... It was so difficult but worth it.

It's great to hear you and your family are being so supportive to your son! That is great! I wish him so much success in his journey!

Hi there. I have been on 16mg of suboxone for 2 months now, and I can seriously say it saved my life. I was also addicted to pain meRAB. When I got off of them I was very depressed and anxious for about two weeks or so. It comes with the territory of coming off of opiates. You get very down on yourself, because you're not used to living without them. I believe the sub will help your son liked it has helped me. It just takes time, and I believe he will start to feel better. This is all very normal. The best thing you can do for your son is to be there for him, and let him know that he hasn't done anything wrong. I hope this helps. god bless.
