A few months ago I got "Ghost Reveries"... then I worked my way back into their discography.

I never really liked death grunt vocals but Opeth's vocalist is actually doing it in a semi-coherent way...

Plus, I fucking LOVE the acoustic bits... weird that I'm not a huge fan of Damnation, I guess I like the contrast between the hard and soft.

Anyone else fans of these guys?

I've tried to listen to many of the albums but the dooRAB voice just annoys the crap out of me so much I want to punch him in the face until he can't speak anymore. Actually the singing is what ruins 99% of all metal, hardcore etc... banRAB that I try to listen to. Atreyu is the same way as is Lamb of God. LOG is actually like scream whining. I threw an Atreyu CD out the window one day after buying it on a recommendation from a friend.

The music can be the most amazing thing I have ever heard but when that mouth opens up it brings it all crumbling down.

i have their entire discography. their early stuff (orchid and morningrise) may not be for the casual metal fan. Actually even their newer stuff isn't for the casual metal fan. if you only "like" Opeth, you're missing out. i effin LOVE them.
