Operating system, Windows 7, building gaming comuter?

I'm building a gaming computer, I already have the parts picked out and stuff. My question is, with the release of Windows 7 in October, whats the best Operating system so I can upgrade to Windows 7 when it comes out? My system will be built the first week of October. For right now I'm going to use the gaming computer for Fallout 3 and the mods. They say that Vista is harder for the mods cause of the high security. Should I stick with Windows XP? Let's say I get Vista, then I upgrade to Windows 7, will it still be a Vista?

Vista - Suck = Windows 7

My wife runs Warcraft and Everquest II at the same time on 7 with higher frame-rates than just one of them with Vista.

If you're building it, get ahold of the Windows 7 x64 RC (that's a beta version and is free, but expires).
If you're buying it, get one with a Windows 7 voucher.

It has a decent media-server built-in as well that works good with the PS3 and I can only assume works good with the 360.
