Opera and Gmail Mobile on Nokia 6265i...

Hi folks. I'm not sure if this should be in the Cricket section, or in the Nokia section as this question involves both parties.

I've got a 6265i and have downloaded both the Opera Browser and Gmail Mobile from their respective websites and have installed them into my applications folder on my phone. I try to run both of them and get the message a "Failed to connect to the internet" messages on both Gmail and Opera. It seems like the programs are installed correctly, and the phone even asks if I want to connect, but it doesn't seem like it is.

Is this a Cricket only thing?

As for Opera troubleshooting, like in the previous posts (I've done extensive searching over the past days) I've read to cancel the network detection at fifty percent and then reload. It does not work for me. Any other ideas?

Thanks. I wish it was that easy. Cricket, for the most part, does not have the best customer service in the world and they don't tend to have any idea as to what they're talking about. I'll call them but am not sure that I'll get a correct answer.

As in data access, my web browser can connect too, and surf, the web via Cricket's wap portal and through the Google hack. Is this not considered data access?

cricket feature codes:
DAT = access to data network. it is a default feature on most plans, and thus is almost always turned on. required for mms, cricket clicks (i think) webstore access and WAP
WAP = access to content on the portal.

Best I can tell Cricket has heavily (and unwisely) restricted WAP access on at least many of their phones, including their best one, the Nokia 6265i. I can get Opera to ostensibly run on the phone, but it just encounters a no-access type error when going for any Web site, same as the included Cricket browser. They apparently want you to buy stuff from their proprietary site. So I pay an extra $5/mo in order to spend more money on lousy games and themes and ringtones... sure.

Speaking of their cust. service... I called on this issue, asked why I can't access anything, 403 Forbidden Error, what can I do to fix this. I was advised that all I need to do is use the provided search function. I explained that brings up nothing, no results even for common terms like "google", the dude told me that would indicate "we don't have a contract with Google". ********. IT'S THE INTERNET. IT'S WIDE THE MUTHER**** OPEN. YOU DON'T NEED A CONTRACT, JUST A CAPABLE MACHINE. I'm fixin' to get out of this cluster**** into some other corporate scumsucking plan that might at least allow me to maximize the capabilities of the phone.

(If anybody knows of a workaround for the 6265i and Cricket... please advise, t'would be much appreciated, might save these hoopleheaRAB a customer.)

You do not need to pay the $5 a month to access the Web Storefront. The $5 option gives you access to content within the portal, i.e. sites like E! Online, Hollywood.com, TV Guide, Fandango, Maxim To Go, Blender, ESPN, Fox Sports, e-mail from G-Mail, Y! Mail, and Hotmail, etc...

There is currently no 'Internet Access', only access to Cricket's Portal. If you don't need or want to look at these sites, but only want to download ringtones, games, et. al., you do not need the $5 option for WAP. Store Front access is free.(you only have to pay for downloaRAB.
