Your best bet is to learn about making alcoholic drinks, for which there are books on that. Learn what the wine vintners do... mix some very small drinks according to recipe, taste them but do not DRINK them!!! Or save them until later.
When you have learned a whole bunch of drinks, then go get a job in a bar as a beginner! Learn what it is like being a bartender but KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT to the other employees and managers about what you are doing and why you are working there!
After you feel comfortable, and if you've got the money, go ahead and open a place of your own. Be careful of city councils, local police chiefs, and so on, find out what they think about a new bar or night club! Find out what their rules and regulations are, they might be trying to shut down the bars and night clubs in the area you want to enter! You may even want to deal with meals if you succeed enough to expand!
So you're going to Costa Rica, huh? Along with the millions of others who are being lured there? I hope you know the local culture, even if you speak fluent Espanol, you may stick out like a sore thumb as a Costa Rican-wannabe!
