ive just watched the trailer for Open Water on the site and i was sat thinking to my self, this just looks like a cross between
Jaws and Cast Away - but hey, they are two great films so i think ill still go see it.

just a thought :) has anyone seen it? wat did u think?

cheers, tom:):):)

I saw it last week and was disappointed. It is quite atmospheric but is NOT SCARY. And if you already know the outcome, there is zero tension.
It is a sad film though, made more so by the fact it really happened.
I did like Blair Witch actually .

When they say "Based on true events" what do they mean precisely? From what I've heard some film producers say it could simply mean, in this case, that 2 people went diving and were left behind, they were then picked up 20 minutes later by the boat they'd chartered.
But that, of course, wouldn't be very exciting. But I'll bet its closer to the real truth than the film.

From what I hear it is based on a true story but, since the people it happened to were never found one can be sure that they just made the rest up as they went on.

Well I guess the dialogue between the two people is totally made up but I believe the key events to be true. Certainly when I was diving in Oz last year they made a huge deal about correct headcounts because of what had happened to that couple. Although I read somewhere that there is a theory they faked their own disappearance in some dodgy insurance scam.
I hated Perfect Storm.

I was looking forward to this film when I first saw the trailer but the reviews I have read for it have said that it is very boring 80 minutes. However my girlfriend really wants to see it so I will going to see it on Sunday but I just hope it turns out to be really good!

Sharks in the film are real. Heard an interview on the radio yesterday as I was driving home from work. The interview was with one of the professional shark divers that worked on the set. They said one of the funny parts in the movie is that you can't tell how much of the fear of the sharks as shown by the characters is real and how much is acted. Did you know the budget for the movie was only $70,000.00 which in movie terms is nothing.

When i saw the trailer for this, i couldnt help thinking of the film Phonebooth. Almost only one location, and a whole film set around it.

I went to see this on Sunday and it was a very slow and boring film which seemed to go on for over 2hrs even though its only 90 mins long. I have to say that the acting was rubbish through out the film.I saw this and Envy over the weekend and these were the worst films I have seen this summer. I think this is one film that definatly doesnt live up to the hype as it doesnt even come close!

My thoughts exactly.

I saw the trailer and thought it looked like it may be a good tense film. Boy was I disappointed. I wasted 78 minutes of my life on this film....

AVOID

What else could the ending be???
Unfortunately I have to go to see this tonight. Feeling very sorry for myself now after reading all of the above. Think I'll spend a fortune on popcorn and ice cream and concentrate on the nice food for the 90 mins
