Hi. My flute is in getting repaired again from a leak.
(I dropped in by accident durring band. LONG story short. I'm first chair in my section so it was pretty hectic in the band room cause it was the end of the period and i went to put something on my teacher's stand and I dropped it by ACCIDENT! So please don't taunt me for my accident!)
My teacher couldn't fix it
so she let me use another flute but unfortantly that had a leak too so I couldn't really play in band.
I FINALLY got a better working flute but the problem is I SUCK on open holed flutes. It's the same flute I used the last time mine was getting reparied (I think) The last time I used it I put tape on the holes. It helped. I did the same with it this time but when my ring finger on my left hand doesn't cover up the hole the air vibrates against the tape and it makes the sound weird.
Only 2 keys have tape. And I don't know how long my flute will be out.
Question 1: If only 2 keys have tape on them will if effect the sound? When I play it, it doesn't sound like it.
Question 2: Is there anything I can use to cover up the holes besides tape? (My flute is a closed hole.)
Question 3: Which sounds better Open holed or closed hole flutes?
Please no mean answers thanks.
