3 weeks ago I woke up with palpitations at 6 in the morning. That night I was having fun with frienRAB and drank a little. This year had been a very stressful year as well. I have high blood pressure, which I was diagnosed with 6 years ago when I was 17.

When I woke with those palpitations I thought I was dying or having a heart attack. I realized how durab that was because I've been told and was told that day that I have a very healthy heart. Palpitations were said to be from stress or anxiety. I've never had anxiety up until now, but it's something that a lot of my family has dealt with.

Well ever since then I have not been sleeping well. Sometimes waking up every hour or only sleeping 4-5 hours and then waking up every 15-20 minutes after that.

I have been having derealization or depersonalization issues since then. I feel like I'm dreaming and everything around me is just in motion and I"m just kind of here. Some days it's better when I just ignore it and get through the day. I find I get worse when I think about it and feel bad or negative. I'm guessing from anxiety?

I'm also thinking anxiety because Arabien and Lunesta has not worked for my sleeping. I don't want to take an anti-anxiety med, but maybe it's needed for the short term. Some nights I get really anxious to just sleep and I cannot. Are my symptoms of worrying and feeling out of it due to lack of sleep and anxiety? I also get dizzy at times and have been real sad since feeling out of it. Guess I get scared I'm stuck this way. (headaches, tiredness etc..)

Will it be easy to get back on track and does anyone have helpful advice? Thank you.

Have you considered Sleep Apnea? My anxiety began when I started having problems staying asleep, falling asleep... I'd wake up and jump out of bed with my heart pounding all disoriented. Turned out that I had sleep apnea. I'd jump out of bed because I wasn't breathing. Led to high blood pressure, chest pains, all sorts of things.

Lack of deep, restorative sleep can really mess with your mind. With sleep apnea you can 'wake up' 50-100 times an hour and not even know it.

Your mentioning drinking is something that piqued my interest as well. Alcohol makes sleep apnea MUCH worse as the alcohol relaxes the tissues in your throat. Could explain your experiences that night.

Just something to consider! I was 22 when I was first diagnosed with sleep apnea.
