only fools and horses - the missing scenes

In the episode 'watching the girls go by' where Rodney has a bet with Mickey Pearce to pull a girl.

there are 2 lines cut from this episode:

Albert: 'most of em' are married now aren't they?'

Del: 'most of em' are dead'.

the lines were cut, out of respect to the death of David Jason's real life partner, who sadly died that same year.

Discuss the missing scenes and edited segments here.

just read the bible of peckham book, and it says in the ep 'thicker than water' (where their dad returns) there are 2 cut lines:

*at the doorstep, Rodney shakes his dad's hand, and says 'please to meet you' - this scene has been cut for years and cannot be found anywhere.

*halfway through the episode, Del says 'He didn't care if grandad was dead or alive' - this line was cut out of respect to the real life death of Lennard Pearce.

Music rights problems relate to commercial releases only.

TV broadcasts , whether they be on BBC or GOLD should be the full uncut versions , but of course the PC nutters have been chopping away at OFAH for a while now

The Grange Hill dvd's are also edited for music while the tv repeats were as they should be

Oh yeah, I know you can see it on youtube, and cheers for the links.

but I just meant you know, it's still a good idea to get the licensed to drill DVD aswell, that way you can watch it anytime, plus it comes with all those extra bits like, white mice, royal variery, e.t.c..

Your absolutley correct mate.

There are also lines cut in the episode 'yuppy love' where Rodney first meets Cassandra:

When Jevon, Mickey and Rodney are in the nightclub, the following lines are cut:

Mickey: 'that's what he's done, he's offered her half the winnings'

Jevon: 'Mickey, shut up'

these lines are on the TV broadcasted version, but are cut from the video/DVD releases.

The Christmas Special episode "Thicker Than Water" which has Lennard Pearce in it was originally broadcasted on Christmas Day of 1983.Lennard Pearce didn't die until 15th December 1984.So the line "He didn't care if grandad was dead or alive" would not have been cut from the original broadcast.

Cheers for the link man.

personally, I cannot see the BBC ever releasing video tape footage of Grandad in the episode 'hole in one' - if they did, they would have done it by now, as Lennard has been gone about 25 years now.

also, video tape footage might not even exist anymore, footage of Lennard from this episode might have got chucked away.

So instead of posting something positive and intelligent, regarding a missing scene, instead you decide to be smarmy and silly by correcting a couple of letters?

Paddy: 'I hope you dont mind me asking, but how long has he been like that?'

Del: 'ever since he was bitten by the tetsy fly, he's beyond our help now'

lol

I have the Only Fools and Horses DVD collection disc for a Royal Flush and that has the extra 20 minutes in it. Loads of episodes had cuts unfortunately due to the music rights, ie a certain song was playing in the background and it either cost too much or they weren't allowed to use it on release copies. Miami Twice second episode had canned laughter added to it

By series 4 they must have known it was successful so i can't see them throwing it away or at the very least offering his family a copy of what had been filmed so far. A lot of people watched the show originally and have grew up with it. Blu ray is a medium that is here to stay for at least another 10-15 years. For a lot of people this will be the last format they buy in their lifetime, for others they just wont fork out money for something they already own. It's up to the BBC what they do now but a new release of the series, even if the episodes were uncut just won't be good enough for people to pay that kind of money out again. People want things they haven't seen before and if they did come up with the goods with deleted scenes, outtakes and no dialogue cuts they could make a fortune on them.

I was watching GOLD earlier today, and I watched the episode 'watching the girls go by'

and I knew, lines were cut from this episode, but I thought they were only cut on video/DVD releases, I didn't realise GOLD had cut this line also:

Albert: 'some of em' are married now, aren't they?'

Del: 'some of em' are dead'

the only way you can get this episode in full, (without the lines cut) is if you have this episode on tape, BEFORE the year 1995.

as the lines were cut, in the year 1995, when David Jason's wife died in real life.
