Online DVD rental schemes

I'd be grateful for any recommendations for postal DVD rental schemes in the UK. I've had a look at a few but they all seem to involve a degree of randomness: you have to establish and maintain a pool of titles and can't be quite sure which you're likely to be sent at any time.

Are there any schemes which permit you to order a specific individual DVD which will be sent straight away if it's available?

I think they all have a way of allocating priority but I cant be certain.

I am with Tesco, and you indicate what priority you wish against each title;

the three options are "I would like these delivered as soon as possible", "Please deliver these titles as they become available" and lastly "I dont mind when you send out these titles".

I would imagine that the other schemes have similiar options.

Shelle, thanks very much. I'll take a look at Tesco's scheme.

Ideally I'd still like one where you don't have to provide a list of titles, though. All I really want is to be able to get a specific DVD every now and then, when I need to see it: an online version of a high street rental store.

It does sound as if you actually need a pay as you go scheme where you pay an one off cost each time you rent a dvd.

Try Easycinema.com as they offer this type of rental. Dont know if good value as havent looked at that type myself.
 
I am with tesco dvd rental, i am sure most of you know. They have let me down by sending me faulty discs, but they dont let me down by replacing them for me. They are very fast with delivery, it takes them hours to find a dvd from your list, keep in mind other people might have already rented out the dvd so they have to keep looking for something that is avilable, thats why they want you to create a list. I have up to 79 titles in my list at the moment, and they always send me the right ones, its like they are reading my mind sometimes. Great service so far, and very fast. I highly recommend tesco because they have a huge selection on dvRAB, its amazing.
 
I've only been with Blockbuster a week but I highly recommend them - their search facility is really easy to use, the whole thing is super fast and efficient and you can prioritise titles exactly in the order you want them (although more obscure titles can take longer).

Tesco are cheaper though...
 
I use Amazon's rental service, and have never had any real problems with it. The turn-around of DVD's is super quick, for example I returned a disc wednesday and already have the next one on my list. Occassionaly I've had to clean the disc when it arrives, but no real problems.

You do have to maintian a list, but they send you what is at the top of your list if it's available, and 9 times out of 10 the one I had at the top of my list has been dispatched.
 
Thanks for the replies. It's beginning to look as though the sort of scheme I'm ideally after - with no lists or preference-orders, and where you just rent the occasional single DVD when you feel like it, as opposed to a continuous stream of titles - simply doesn't exist.

I'll keep investigating, though.

I use Amazon and have watched many movies I would not have been able to afford. They are very good and provide 6 movies per month for 9.99. I feel I do not have time to watch more films per month as I watch a lot of Sport and films at the cinema. I used to be with Love Film but the turn around times were very slow and the discs were often damaged + I get 10% of DVD purchases from Amazon.
 
I used Tesco last year, they were really good for older films - got them quick, but I could never get any new titles off them, even though I had them listed as top proirity.
Changed to Amazon, a little bit more expensive than Tesco, but got all the new films I wanted more or less as soon as they were released.
 
I just tried this, but all I get when I click on a title is the option to add it to my list: nothing about renting it on an individual basis. I must be doing something wrong: I'll persevere.
