Online correspondence gone sour?

I emailed a guy online just as a friend and mentioned something about women and beauty. He wrote me back a few paragraphs about sex and female lust mentioning how much he enjoys sex. I was offended by this and told him so - it felt like a come-on. He said I was the one who mentioned sex - when I didn't - and that I was taking this too personally and questioning his integrity. He says he's not comfortable with boundaries regarding topics of conversation. He also said I made some flirtatious comment when I didn't, at all. I feel really like this guy has gone a head job on me. Is he just being really controlling or is it just too easy to have misunderstanding in en email correspondence?
