one red spot on tongue...any ideas?

last night after brushing my teeth and going to brush my tongue I noticed a red spot on my tongue.

anyone have any possible ideas? it's painless and just kind of there and flat and red. I'm only 21 and not really a drinker, and I don't smoke. I'm concerned that it could be an STD, but I'm not aware of any that present like this and everywhere else on my body is fine otherwise.

I figure I'll give it a week or a few days, could be a burn from hot pizza or something, but if anyone here has any insight I would appreciate it. thanks!
 
If it doesn't go away in a week or it gets worse within the week; have a dentist or oral surgeon check it out. Really doesn't look like a burn, a burn on the tongue hurts.
 
davelongs: Dr. Oz had on his show stuff about tongues yesterday. He showed something like this and he said it could be an allergic reaction. Have you eaten anything new or different lately? Don't wait to get it checked if it doesn't go away. You don't want it to be cancer.
