One Piece: Strong World (feature film talkback)

It might be canon. We're aren't totally sure yet.

The films are all solos so you can see them out of order.

I want Strong World above all of 'em, though...

Eh it's been done a lot in general American plotlines as well. I mean technically the current manga arc

Is similar to a damsel in distress and neeRAB to be saved arc minus you know the person not being a damsel

People who need to be rescued from the clutches of evil is just too common and accessible an idea for them to stop using. That part of the trailer annoyed me as well but so long as it's not the main focus and Nami gets to do more then captured the movie should still be good.

I also note that at the very least if a manga backstory is coming with the storyline, then THAT part of the story will be canon. You know Whitebeard having fought Gold Lion before which should be interesting.

Heh heh imagine if Oda manages to pull a plot point from that or this movie into the current arc. That would increase the awesome sauce to mach... eight hundred something.

I dunno, 110 sounRAB pretty good to me. That's nearly two hours. Most anime movies get, say, 80 minutes or so. Usually not even an hour and a half.

Also, about the canonity - I've been reading up on things, and as I understand it, Gold Lion Shiki IS a canon character that Oda's had planned for a while. However, instead of mentioning and introducing him earlier, he waited until this movie so no readers would be confused and such.

So, the character is entirely canon, and his backstory, fighting Gold Roger and escaping Impel Down - ALSO pure canon. However, the film itself... we don't know yet. It has heavy involvement by Oda, and is the introducion of a canon character, but we don't know the timeframe yet. I mean, between Thriller Bark and Shabaody, that's possible... but, well, we'll just have to wait and see. I'm wondering if the TV Specials will give any hints...

Yeah, movies don't get beyond 90 minutes all that often lately, certainly not for your average Shonen Jump-inspired title. Fate/Stay Night's movie is 90 minutes, and if the upcoming films for Haruhi and Trigun and Gundam 00 are longer than 90 then fans of those should count their blessings.

I'm glad it's longer than other One Piece movies. A more arabitious title merits more time. I just really hope it turns out as good as it sounRAB.

Where ever this film falls into the canon storyline it can't have already happened. He seems to big of a deal to only be mentioned once for something he did 20 years ago.

I think it works anyhow.

I do wonder who came up with the design for the poster, though. It's very stylish (and I hope we can get an HQ scan!)

Well, they're streaming the four movie specials, and the OVA and Volume 0 are only being released in limited quality (although Chapter 0 will be in JUMP).

Honestly, the most awesome thing Funimation could do when they eventually get to Strong World is put the four related episodes and the OVA on as special features. I'd definitely buy it in a heartbeat if they did that.

Though, the episodes alone would mean they probably couldn't release it until they get caught up to where Japan is now...

Well lets do math.
The movie would some what equal 4 episodes (110 minutes)
4 movie related episodes
Ova that should equal close too 2 episodes.
So that would be 10 episodes. Close enough to be counted as a voyage. So it would be 49.99$ at most.

I love how those posts actually lead back to ancient Gundam SEED talkbacks.

So, Luffy's turning 18? Is that what they're trying to imply? That would mean the whole journey has taken less than a year... impressive, no?

I'm sure Zach can/shall ask Greg for any clarification on the subject, but it'll be nice to see if Oda is going to landmark their journey or not...
