One Day As A Lion

Oh, I thought RATM reunited. Or is this just a side project of de la Rocha's? I respect Zack a lot but if he thinks that he's going to be able to deliver as effectively as he did in Rage he's sorely mistaken. Morello was half the reason anyone listened to their music, and as far as I knew, everyone in the band endorsed Zack's style.

I can't say that I'm impressed by this. I loved Rage and hated Audioslave, but I don't think I could bear to listen to Zack's political rants for an hour.

I too didn't really take to Audioslave (the music was tight but the vocals just never went anywhere) but I like anything Zach makes (he did a song a few years ago with DJ Shadow called March of death which I also dug the shit out of) which makes me think that for me, Zach was RATM...and honestly, I could do without Morello's antics...:\

...

You've gotta be joking. De la Rocha was the activist, the outspoken one, but Morello was the intellectual of the group (you do know he got a degree in Political Science from Harvard, right?) and certainly the most gifted musician. And for me, it was always the music that held the band together. Maybe it was Zack's anger and frustration against the status quo that really brought Rage out, but he wasn't musically talented, and I don't think that a hip-hop EP is gonna change most people's perception of him. Unless he got Rick Rubin to produce it, I don't think it's gonna be anything special.

Anyone checked them out?

Zack de la Rocha and Jon Theodore's new project. Well, they released their EP late July and apparently the full album is due out this fall.

I dug it quite a bit, but I'm just curious what all of you think thus far.

Nope, I shit you not. You've got a prime example of a long time RATM fan who is interested in anything Zach does, as opposed to stuff Morello might be doing in the future. One day as a lion is a perfect example of that, it's just Zach, some drums and a keyboard and it still kicks ass. It's all about the vocal delivery (if it wasn't, Audioslave would have been just as good a band as RATM, which it wasn't, not even close).

But really, I couldn't be happier if the band got together again and started writing new stuff (despite Morello's solos, they still wrote some fantastic tunes), but until then I'll gladly eat up anything Zach serves us...

I liked it, especially Wild International. I wouldn't rate it as highly as his stuff with RATM.

Also, I really don't like la Rocha's singing voice, fair enough he's branching out, but the chorus for Ocean View just sounRAB terrible.

Well they have for shows at least. Apparently they kicked arse @ Reading recently. Has Adidasss got the One Day release yet? Seeing how he gets everything else early I would like to hear his opinion.

Oh, I thought I already commented. Basically it's a stripped down version of RATM, kinda like Scars on Broadway and Serj Tankian are two halves of one whole. It's decent music but fairly forgettable. It kept me entertained for a few work out sessions, then I forgot about it...:\

Mmm, I'd agree on Ocean View, but in short doses, as in If You Fear Dying, it fits well.

It'll be intriguing to see what else they put out.

Also, I thought his lyrics were still on par with his Rage material.

EDIT:
At Jackhammer, my bad. I searched a few different ways and nothing came up. Feel free to merge them.
