Once ~ How often do you find the right person?

Oh yeah, it definitely makes sense, and it wasn't an unrealistic, stupid fairytale ending, so it fits with the tone of the movie as a whole, but it was still really sad. It just felt unfair, they were perfect for each other, but the circumstances weren't.

I YouTubed the moment that "Falling Slowly" won the Oscar, that was a really sweet moment :sigh:

I'm a huge fan of this movie. I just loved every minute of it andthe music. Speaking of which I got to see The Swell Season on Sunday perform in my hometown :woot: Glen and Marketa were amazing live. :glow:

Yeah, the ending isn't exactly "satisfying" but the movie is just so beautiful that you can't help but love everything. Plus, the ending really makes sense, despite not being what we're rooting for. But I like to think they found each other again later on

I finally saw this today, and wow, it affected me much more than I thought it would. I knew the rough story of what happened, but I don't know, it was so sweet and natural and just heartwarming! I totally love the music  But the ending was so bittersweet, it left me feeling sad.

Do they? I wasn't sure about it, but the fact that they're always so cozy and sweet to each during performances made me question it XD

Finally saw it today! :)

Loved it! And am in total love with the soundtrack..my god.

Its amazing :)

This is on my list of movies I have to see! I actually might rent it this weekend, finally. I love Falling Slowly  , I was so happy when they won the Oscar for it...:D

Nikki, if you're into this kind of movie, it's a given that you'll love Once. It's really beautiful

Mel! How shocking, another thing we have in common  ;)

I can't wait for this movie to come out on DVD here, I want to have it here and watch it over and over again. It's too beautiful for words

Nikki - You definitely have to see it!

Ana  Thanks for making a thread. I love the opening.

This was one of the best movies I saw last year and is definitely on my all time favorites list. I had no idea what to expect when I first saw it. Kind of rented it on a whim.

I've worn the soundtrack out.

Oh man, now I really want to see it! I love music and I love movies so really, this is taylor made for me to be crazy in love with.

Thank you, Nikki

I hope you get to see it soon! I watched them perform at the Oscars before watching the movie, and I loved the song (Falling Slowly) right away. But after watching the movie I love it even more. It's amazing how every song is used beautifully, in context they sound even better

Thanks for the thread, Ana! Beautiful OP! I haven't seen it and I'm dying to.

I thought their performance at the Oscars was so nice so yeah, I really need to watch this! :D

So I watched this movie last weekend and I'm utterly in love with it. Beautifully written, very realistic and touching, the songs are amazing... honestly, I wouldn't change a thing about it. I went expecting to see a great movie and it turned out to be one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life

A modern-day musical about a busker and an immigrant and their eventful week in Dublin,
as they write, rehearse and record songs that tell their love story.
@ IMDB

"How come you don't play during daytime? I see you here everyday."

"During the daytime people would want to hear songs that they know, just songs that they recognize.
I play these song at night or I wouldn't make any money. People wouldn't listen."

"I listen."

I don't know you but I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me
And always fool me
And I can't react
And games that never amount
To more than they're meant
Will play themselves out

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you have a choice
You've made it now

Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can't go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I'm painted black
You have suffered enough
And warred with yourself
It's time that you won

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You've made it now

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We've still got time
Raise your hopeful voice you had a choice
You've made it now
Falling slowly sing your melody
I'll sing along
