SHOULD CERTAIN BREEDS OF CANINES (DOGS) BE BANNED. give your opinion, please take this seriously, this is for my education not a personal question.
:) thank you.

Yes, because sometimes the dog cannot be controlled, and if the dog does harm a human being the human being will be hurt, the dog will be put down, and the owner will be sad. The possible consequnce of owning certain dogs is harmful to lots of people. and it is totally unneccessary with the numerous breeds of dogs that do make good pets.

I do not think it is a good idea to say that the owners should be trained first; just because they attend afew classes it doesnt mean that they WILL control the dog. how do we deem who is a responsible pet owner ; besides a dog can always go mental reguardless of its training.

HOWEVER there is a flip side. - driving is potentially driving, tht isnt banned, nor is drink. yet it can be argued that driving is neccessary.

Its a bit of a difficult one really, though i personally think some breeds of dog ought be banned.

I dont think so! I think certain owners should be banned. I have a staff cross collie and she is so dappy my kids sit on her, dress her up and all sorts and she has never snapped or bitten them, she only ever gets aggressive when she thinks me or my kids are in danger, so no-one can walk in my house as the dog gets mad, but if I let them in shes fine! One of her brothers had to be put down because he was very aggressive biting and snarling all the time, I was asked if I wanted him first but when I went to the house to have a look the house was dirty the dog shut in a tiny pen and the owner even kicked him for barking, so I wonder where he got that behaviour from? As I had a small baby I wouldnt risk it! But my dog from the same litter is very good!!

I personally dont. I believe that each dog has its own temperment, but with proper training and spending time with the animal and keeping it in shape and healthy all lead to good dogs. It can be a pit bull, and its been proven with good training and time, any animal can be a good normal loving animal!!
I think before people are able to own pets they should have to go to a class. Too many lazy people are getting animals, and they are not properly training them, or spending enough time with them, and the dog will eventually do what it wants.

My opinion is that specific dog breeds should not be banned but rather certain owners should be banned from owning dogs. The Pit-Bull for example gets a lot of bad press because some owners use these dogs for illegal dog fighting. Improper breeding, like trying to breed aggressiveness into the dog, is also a culprit in presenting a biased view of a specific breed. A dog's temperament will depend largely on genetics (proper breeding can have some control over that) and the environment in which a dog is raised. A dog that is responsibly bred and raised in a loving environment will grow to become a loving member of a family. It is improper breeding and training (teach dogs to fight in a hostile/aggressive environment) of dogs that should be banned, not the breed itself.

I think so because some are naturally more agressive than other. However, at the same point in time nature vs nurture could be argued because if you raise the dog correctly then it should not be an issue. Not that my answer helps you but it gives you two sides of an arguement.

Listen you really gotta learn to search for your own opinion. What do YOU think about it. It's a debate that ask what YOU think and in debate classes there is no right or wrong answers. There are stupid opinions but no wrong opinions. Think for yourself.

Well, obviously, certain breeds of dog are more violent than others, so one could say that these dangerous breeds should be controlled, or in your case banned. Personally, banning certain breeds seems too harsh, so certain sets of restrictions should be placed on controlling those canines. Things such as a certain fence height, or requiring colars and leashes, and in extreme cases maybe even muzzles. Good luck!
