you might be able too, i'm not too familair with the phone but i have the lg rumor2 and it also has a satus light. if you are able to take it off it will be in the display setting and there will be an option for status light.
i have the satio and when i get a text it flashes green but on blackberries there is an application where you can set the light to different colours for different things. i was wondering is there anyway/ application you can do this with ??
