Ok, I know if I'm able to only spend $150 per pay period (every 2 weeks) I'm doing great shopping, and that's not the healthiest alternatives. It's also buying store brands, sale items, and clipping coupons. I don't know about other families, I know I typically spend 175-200 every 2 weeks for my family of five. I try to buy the healthier foods, so I usually spend a bit more.
For one person to eat for $150 per month, is not far-fetched.
Mac n cheese, ramen, vienna sausages, beany weenie, crackers, spam, bread, and all the soda you want. Did I miss any thing? 150.00 if your starting a starvation diet and dont have a job. Other wise just dont buy crap and dont shop hungry. Shop every week unless you have a deep freezer then you can do bulk for the month rather than a little each week.
Pot pies for the microwave are like .70 each. Some frozen entrees are always on sale for $1 each, but their portions are small.
Cup O Noodles are a good substitute if you get sick of Ramen. They're like 3 times the price but still usually less than .50 each as well. Oh, and popcorn is always a good cheap snack to keep around.
