I live in Hawaii, and we actually have just spent the last quarter learning of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Rape of Nanjing, Invasion of Poland, Holocaust, etc. so I can assure you the answer is in fact D. Japan launched a suprise attack on us in 1941 (Dec. 7, 1941 to be exact), this caused the United States to enter WWII leading them to bomb the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (which some say were unnecessary but it did play a major role in Japan's surrender).
