Perhaps it is just in the style of music that I listen to, but I have noticed a fairly strong trend of leaving the lyrics out of the album booklet (if there even is a booklet at all), or in some cases, obscuring the lyrics in the booklet, (for instance, many Jacob Bannon-designed albums, or Opeth's latest album) or not printing the full lyrics (Opeth again). In some cases (Isis and Rosetta, for example), the lyrics can be found on the band's website, but in many cases, there are no officially released lyrics for the album.
Just to make things clear, I'm not talking about instrumental music here, but rather albums with vocals that do not have the lyrics printed in them.
1. Have you noticed this trend in your preferred style of music?
2. What do think about this trend? Do you like it? Dislike it? Not care at all?
3. What are some of your favorite (lyrical) albums that don't have printed lyrics? Are you able to easily understand the lyrics by ear? Would prefer it if they had printed lyrics? Or does it add some mystique to the music?
4. If you were to release an album in the near future, would you include the lyrics?
