OMG i cant wait for Twilight!

Watched this last night after seing it in my local rental shop, I'd held off seeing it at the cinema because everything I'd seen indicated it was very much a film for 14-year-old girls.

I wasn't disappointed.

It's nicely shot, some nice effects in places (although the running around in the trees was awful), and the series certainly has potential, but only as long as the central character grows the f*** up and stops being such a naval gazing, self involved, irritating sap.

All the best bits of action I had already seen in the trailer, and the rest of the film is filled with the whole "Edward wants to drink Bella" sex metaphor, it's never explained just what makes her so special, why does he have no interest in "drinking" either of her mates?

Also the film didn't seem to show the passage of time at all well, halfway through the film I thought she'd been living in Rainyville for about a week, then Edward says he's been watching her sleep for months, "eh?" was my first thought, "creepy stalker" was my second.

As for Edward himself I though he (Rob Pattison) was quite good, but my girlfreind doesn't see what all the fuss is about and didn't fancy him at all.

Considering this is supposed to be a love story where the vampires are a secondary plot point, I was surprised to find that I found the love story tiresome, whereas I found the Cullen family and the hunter vamps really interesting, shame they were all underused and built up to a disappointing finale.

All in all I was probably right to leave cinema viewing of this to the teenage girls.

3/5

i took one of my frienRAB to see twilight last night. she's never read the books or anything, but she completely loved it

i think the book is better than the film though. but still... one of the best films of 2008 i reckon

I fear this is one of these depthless romance films where the love between both characters is so awful and forced.

I might read the book though.

Its not completely about romance is it?

Ah, I completely neglected my family over christmas to read the last three books! :D Not quite, that is a bit of an exaggeration ;), but while they were watching tv and suchlike, I was buried in my books. I really enjoyed them, I hope you do.

WOW that was like the longest post i have ever seen.

I totally understand where your coming from with Jacob and Edward, but for some reason i just don't like Jacob. And yes Edward is a possesive creep.

And even though i read the book when it first came out, part of me is only Team Edward since the movies because Robert Pattinson is sooooo much sexier than Taylor Lautner.

Plus i'm only Team Edward when its between Edward and Jacob.

That is a good bit its like the only time he gets to talk (but he does do the whole "looks like he is in pain" thing well :D).

Now if i could have any Vampire i would definately have Jasper or Emmet. They need more Jasper and Emmet in the films.

Wow!!! Great post LemonPledge- i agree with every word. Team Jacob!!!
Meyer seems to think good=BABIES!!!
Every female in the book that cant have babies is down and depressed and attempts suicide.
I hate this aspect of the books. Im not a hardcore feminist but I think she should have provided a more aspiring role model then Bella. And the adult ending would be for Bella to choose the soft, malleable love that Jacob provides as opposed to the tough, authoritarian love that Edward gives.

My fav scene is the Baseball scene- its so great to see the family bonding and the song "Supermassive Black Hole" was excellent for that scene!!!

I've finished reading New Moon within a week  and how can after reading that, no one can fall in love with Jacob :D. Oh wow, he is amazing in the book !! I hope in the new film, they portray Jacob, exactly how he comes across in the book. And he has the main focus, because that is how i felt it came across in New Moon.

I really hope they don't drag on Edward's return, to Bella because to me that's not the best thing about New Moon, for me it's Jacob coming into the forefront and turning in a werewolf  and being the best friend possible :D:D

My frienRAB described twilight to me as being really crap and going on about how pattz is ugly so i just swallowed it all. but got damn i just wanna do his twilight character so much it is scary.:o

The voice, eeeee, I know i am late to the party.

PMSL!! I should have known when I laughed out loud at a post it was you! :p

Maybe they'll use weird angles and trickery like they did in Lord of The Rings to make Gandalf and the others look that much larger than the hobbits? There's no way that kid is going to look 6'7" without it unless he has a growth spurt of his own.
