Hey all i am having alot of discomfort in the back of my leg where you bend it makes me want to keep my leg straight all the time ugh i am wondering if it could be from the falls i had making everything worse. This is sciatic related right? My foot is getting worse and my leg and my back omg i am having a hard time getting comfortable to sleep/walk ugh and the stomache issue i'm having doesn't help at all, i will beg and plead to get into that other Dr. before Sept. with the other. I can't even be on here long at all. I hope the Dr. hurrys up and does the refferal for PT any relief i can get! Take care, Love, Monkey
P.S Hope everyone had a pain free weekend! I am here for you! I think this is just my beggining!

Melissa I am so sorry you are having this pain but I think I might be experiencing the same pain. I just had my L5/S1 360 fusion on 3/5/08. I have had severe pain on right leg just below the bend in my leg. I never had this particular pain before. It starts out when I try to stand up and it becomes horizontal then when I am finally standing up the pain is then vertical an it runs all the way up my butt and hip area and then down my outside shin area to the toes. It got so bad I cried so they gave me Neurontin and it is finally helping with the pain. Now I am getting rid of this and new ones to take its place. There are so many types of nerve pain I believe doctors believe we are crazy. I had one today on my right outer thigh that felt like I had layed on a bed of hot coals.

I hope we will all be able to find out what is causing these horrific pains and I want you to know that you are in my prayers

Love and Big Hugs to everyone
Linda

Monkey5 I know exactlly what you are going through. I'm doing the exact same thing. And I had my back operated on back in the early 90s. And now its all starting up again. And yes with the stomache issue to. It really does make life hard to live.
Just last night I had a real bad night as you would know all about. Well I go to sleep very late wake very early. And when my wife got up she said to me. So you had a bad night last night. So not only am I disturbing me I'm disturbing her to. I told her I was sorry but she said its not my fault.
And like you have stated that you can't sit at the computer for long either. I know that this is so true, as when I can sit there I will look up as much as I can before I have to get off.
But here I'm lucky as I have got a good local doctor who knows I'm not full of crap and what I say is the truth. So when I go to see him to get an injection so my tablets will work once more. He will give me my injection. And oh what a relief it is to be in no pain for those hours. And this lasts me for about 4 hours then I take tablets to keep it there and I have a good week. Where I can get on with just tablets.
One thing I would like to know is when your back is bad do you lose all interest in eating. As this is what happens to me. I know I'm hungry but just the thought of food makes me feel sick. And is of no interest to me. And I like my food.
All the best and just know that I know what you are going through.

Linda, I have only taken the Neurotin once unluky for me theres not too many days i can but no thats not the cause, hope to find out soon! I got the feeling back alot in my leg whew. But i find when i sit too longit does this bad and if i lean to that side at all i get pain so not going to do that, it's almost so much like an arthritis thing as it is intermitent and can be induced by walking certain postitions ect. Who knows i just want it to go away! Take care and i hope you get some relief soon!
Love, melissa

Yes i have the same problem andi stay up late because i can't get comfortable. When i sit my leg goes nurab really bad in the back of the knee part and when i lay down it's somewhat better but then i get the pain there in my toes cramps ect. and yup i can't even think about eating! I have something else going on i know though i am waiting for reults for as my stools or of abnormal color and it's not helping trying to wean off the vicodin as not sure ifit's the cause ect. I really hate that i amvery tolerant to pain and meRAB so i have Neurotin here if needed but i can't function on this and i have five boys three on meRAB with a diability, so as much it may hurt me i try to be and am a busy person! I am going to seriously consults with my Rheumy about a nerve block but only after the other results so can take care of one thing at a time!
Take care i hope you feel better soon also!

The physical therapist with Home Health came this morning and she couldn't believe how much my feet and ankles were swollen. We went ahead and did some exercises and some walking with the walker and cane and then she wanted to see me get in and out of the bed. I still have problems with the cane because my legs still want to buckle up. She gave me some new exercises to do also. She is going to call my neurosurgeon's office in Nashville today and talk to him about the swelling. I told her I did not want to continue the medication if this swelling was going to keep up because I have now gained 9 lbs since last week and I fill miserable. She asked if I had Congestive Heart Failure and I told her No. My nerve pain is much better in my legs but it seems I have just changed one condition for another conditioner. Hope everyone has a good dayl

Happy Days
Linda

Hi Linda ~

I'm sorry you are once again having so many problems...some of them rather unique, I think!! It is bad enough to have the surgical pain, but now with the swelling that makes things that much worse.

When I was in the hospital, the second day was awful for me. The first exercise the therapist wanted me to do caused horrendous burning pain in my thigh. All I wanted to do was move my leg, and I just couldn't so I just started crying. It got so bad they put valium and morphine into my IV. Luckily the particular pain only occurred that one day...the next day I could get up and move around without problems. So I do agree that nerve pain is the worst and it is weird how it moves around.

My surgical assistant told me I was on the operating table for 4 hours, on my stomach, and that they had to move me into weird positions as they operated. She said things get stretched in unusual ways, and they have to move the nerves as they go...and the nerves react and "get angry," and that it can take them awhile to settle back down. I think that is happening with me...but it is taking awhile.

I'm glad the PT is calling your doctor. I can't imagine why you have so much swelling. Come to think of it, I weighed myself when I first came home from the hospital and I was about 8 pounRAB heavier than when they weighed me right before surgery. It must be from the IV fluiRAB they pump into you. I lost that weight in about a week or so.

Hang in there. It will get better.

:wave::wave::wave::wave:

Monkey they have PT coming out with Home Health 2 times a week. They will be here today but they said they can't do too much so too early???? My feet and ankles are swollen so bad and the home health nurse told me yesterday it was because of the Neurontin!! Do you fee swell with Neurontin? I take 300 mgs. 3 times a day and it does seem to help with the nerve pain in right leg but the swelling is now causing its own pain. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Gentle Hugs

Monkey5 thats a big yes to no interst in food what so ever. And I really do like my food. I was 104 kilograms the other day and now I have lost a couple of kilo's not that its a bad thing. But I really don't look overweight, I hide it well.
I had to go to the ER the other day as my back was so sore I couldn't do a thing like SLEEP. Well after waiting for a couple of hours in a waiting room with no one else there. I finally got in to see a doctor. I got an injection and was told to wait. Then they took mey blood pressure and it was way high. So I had to wait longer there. Finally got home at 4am. Woke at 7.30 am and was good for a couple of days just on my tablets. But Just yesterday I had to go to my local doctor for another injection.
And That has given me close to a week overall without eating a great deal.
All the best Money5 I truely hope thing start to look up for you. Tattman.
