I used Progect project manager/checklist app for some time. Then I gave in to the "I need a desktop version too," and purchased Bonsai. Almost 18 months later I've gone back to Progect 0.29 (0.30beta6 is available) - and I'm really happy.
Just as I pushed "MonthlyPlanner" once Mooseman recommended it to me - I'm now slogging away for Rick Price and Progect. I grew so tired of the 11MB behemoth, constant updates and a 500k app for "checklists" that I had switched to having everything in just plain text in TealDoc.
But finding Progect again made me smile. There are several links at Freeware Palm and SourceForge - don't let the list intimidate you; theyre just different "flavors" of how to download this terrific FREEWARE app and it's desktop companion, PDesk. Both are under renovation from the ground up and will be released next year - but until then I recommend the handheld 94k version HIGHLY. I haven't installed PDesk yet, and probably won't - I never need to work on outlines on the PC.

I'm mentioning it here because TWICE now Iv'e tried to give a positive bolstering post on Freeware Palm but it wasn't "accepted." We all come here for advice on problems, but I think it's important to share something you really feel is WORTH it. Progect, with it's funny "g" spelling and no frills, works great in flash, is only 94k - and very intuitive. The first thing you'll ask yourself if youdon't read the accompanying tutorial (it's an installable app from the Freeware Palm download) - is "where do I start writing?" It's simple - just start the first letter of the outline item. Automatically you're taken to a screen to configure whether you want "progress bar, action, info, etc" and go from there. Levels can be moved easily with the arrow buttons.
This thing does a lot more but you can discern if those extras will help you. I find it very stable (always did) - and 0.29 is even nicer. Apparently the beta supports color icons - but they have to be "Datebk5 simple format" and involve some steps I'm not interested in. Sufice it say the planner itself is simple, useful - and the finished "outlines" take about 20% of what Bonsai outlines took up on the Palm. Slightly more than plain text! Instead of 30k taken up for 5 outlines - I think I'm at 2k. Outlines are backed up at Hotsync under "LBPG" with the "L" in lower case - "lbpg." Remember that's an "L" and not a capital "i."
Just passing along and hope it's as productive for all of you. Rick Price is not only a great developer and computer whiz - he's a terrfic example of a true "Palmer;" one that makes it work, doesn't bloat it, supports it, makes it better and KEEPS it small and functional. God Bless him.
