I once saw a documentary on the oldest man to ever live in England. I believe he was documented to be around 134 years old. He was a farmer, out lived couple of wives and several of his children. I was said that he started out each day with a breakfast of oatmeal.

The King at that time, Charles II, wished to meet him. To which, the old man traveled to London to meet the King. The King was so impressed by his age that he laid on a great banquet for the old man.

It's said, that not being used to such rich foods, the old man died within a few days. The King had him buried in West Minster Abby.

Is this true or just one of those nice stories that makes for a 30 minute TV show?

it is not true... it is a 30 min. show. they're trying to make money. it is very silly. no one would die from reg. food. for example: you trying different foods, did you die? NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't sound like fact , But if he ate something he was allergic to it could happen back then, I do know the oldest American was Christian Mortensen who lived 115 years 252 days, he was born 16 August 1882 & died 25 April 1998, Oldest undisputed male, Danish immigrant to U.S. not that helps you.
