i just picked this movie up. it's about a guy that gets locked up in a small prison for 15 years, framed for the murder of his wife, one day he wakes up on a roof. in a business suit, cash in his wallet and a cellphone, then given 5 days to figure out why he was kidnapped and imprisoned, so he takes revenge on everybody involved. everyone.

It's a twisted movie. the writer has some issues or something...

anyway, i would highly reccomend this movie. it's kind of long, but it's worth it.

Heres the trailer

It has been around for quite a bit. I thought it was a bleak, but then I saw it a couple of years before the Fritzl case, which is just horrific in a worse way.

The plot wasn't as oblique as something like The Ring, so I found it more rewarding. It put me off Calamari though :p

No... but it's getting an American remake, last heard Nic Cage was in the lead and they were changing the twist to something more safe... or you can see the Bollywood remake of it(I advise you don't, it's horrendous).

Great film.

Good story, decent twist, some macabre scenes, great humour (his drunk antics in the police station were spot on and hilarious).

Hollywood remaking it with Nicholas Cage? Nothing would surprise me. This is what happens when you have people with lots of money and little imagination making films.

He's already in another Asian remake called Bangkok Dangerous. The lead in the original was deaf, I think they have completely erased that out of the remake...

and yes The Wickerman remake was horrendous.

Awesome movie, one of the few DVRAB I actually bothered to buy after renting. That fight sequence with the hammer is one of the best fights I've seen in any movie- and they did it all in one take:cool: The scene where he eats the live squid was a bit grim though and that took many attempts!

Not looking forward to Hollywood butchering this great movie, they'll no doubt re-work the plot so as to not offend anyone's sensibilities

Has anyone seen the other 2 parts of The Vengeance Trilogy? As I keep on meaning to watch them but still haven't got round to it.

^ Never saw the first one but Sympathy For Lady Vengeance was very good. Some complain that it isn't as dark or doesn't have a huge twist in the end, like Oldboy, but nevertheless it's a very good movie.

God this western remake sounRAB awful. No doubt it will probably be PG-13 as well. Does it even need a remake? I feel there's not that much of a huge cultural difference that's evident in the original that makes it completely inaccessible to a Western audience.
