Oldboy remake...

I wonder what the western equivalent of eating a live octopus would be?

And surely the point of a twist ending is it actually being a twist - which it can't be if everyone already knows it.

if steven spielberg remade this movie and didnt change a thing I think it would be the end of his career!!
Oldboy is a phenomenal movie and asian cinema is extreme and shocking - hollywood couldnt remake a movie like this.
And I agree with the OP - Will Smith would not be a good move for the lead role - Nic Cage I can see after his roles in films like Face/Off and Leaving Las vegas (edgy, dangerous characters) but Will Smith? nah sorry.
 
Will Smith is a terrible choice...

I can't see them keeping the twist ending for some reason, even Bollywood got rid of it in their remake.

Well Revelian, apparently they went ahead and remade it without permission... it's absolutely horrendous. I've even forgotten the actual title for it. Stay away..............
 
This is a terrible idea for a remake.Im guessing that they would change the ending as I cant see family friendly Will Smith being happy with that twist!
