Old stereo needs repair - should I take it to be repaired or simple seek a new one?

I have a Philips Mini Audio System FW-M355 which I have had for at least 7+ years. It still sounds great despite its age, but it has problems reading discs. Even with brand new discs, the only way I can get it to read them is by tapping the top of the stereo, which will normally (not always) get it to start playing the disc. I have taken it apart, and it seems that the CD player is having trouble actually spinning the disk for the laser to read it.

Should I send it in for repair, or should I simply wait to buy a new one?
