"old-school sports" day at school (spirit week)? ideas, please!?

next week is homecoming week at my school, and the dress-up theme for Thursday is "old-school sports" does anyone have ideas as to what to wear? i don't have access to old jerseys or class shirts, so it has to be something i can put together out of my closet or pieces easily located.

Old school basketball is super easy. Short shorts with a tight jersey tucked in. High white socks with tennis shoes and a headband. Arm bands, knee brace and or elbow pads would be a solid bonus.

My sister had a similar theme for the first week of school and they showed up as a ping-pong team. It was really easy they just wore those short '70s athletic shorts, tank tops that they decorated themselves, stripped tube socks, and head and wrist bands. They also wore their hair in afros, but I realize that not everyone is capable of doing that.
