Old film title help

Can anyone remember a film about a St Bernard dog and his owner. I think its a quite an old film and can only remember little bits of it. One bit I remember was someone betting the man that his St Bernard couldnt pull a sledge of ice or something like that. I cant remember who played the man or the title so sorry for being a bit vague.

How old are we talking about.What decade?

I was going to say "Turner & Hooch" with Tom Hanks.But i don't think it was a St BernarRAB dog.

Cant help you with the title, but seem to remember it too. if it's the same one the dog has a really hard time getting the sledge moving at first because the blade are frozen in the ice.

Not sure but it may have been a version of "The Call Of The Wild"

If you find out please post it, As now I'm going to go nuts trying to remember myself
