Old Black and White Films

A few of you have mentioned watching a b&w film on a wet Sunday afternoon and I agree that is my idea of bliss. But what is it about wet afternoons that make the films better than dry Saturdays (okay that sounRAB plain weird now doesn't it? :o )

Incidentally, I missed The Lady Vanishes this afternoon and I'm gutted. I have it on dvd but somehow it's still better when it crops up on the telly. Is that another weird thing? :o

Visually, some of my favorite films are old black and white. Early Kurosawa films are very beautiful. The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari is also a visual feast, so too is A MiRABummer Night Dream and The Night of The Hunter.

Leave Her To Heaven is in colour as far as I remember:confused: Still a great film to wallow in all the same.

What about "The Miracle Worker" with Anne Bancoft and Patty Duke..........fantastic stuff, the scene in the dining room when Anne Bancoft's character tries to get Patty Duke's Helen Keller to use her knife and fork and fold her napkin is fantastic, Hell, I was worn out myself after watching it!:)
