and if the link doesn't work, look up "Sally Kern" on youtube or the video called "I'm Listening"
i appreciate those who took the time to answer. I just wanted to share that and to let the world know that we are listening, and that we need to do everything in our power to stop the spread of this hatred, not only against the gay population, but all hate crimes and bigotry.

Oh my gosh, I was sooo disgusted when I heard that. To know that even some people in the government feels this way and to express and lecture this is unbelievable. How narrowminded is that? To me, it sounds like pure hate and discrimination.

R@M,

I actually just listened to this 2 nights ago and was incredibly disgusted. I actually wrote her an e-mail even though she luckily doesn't represent my state. However I feel that if you just sit there and let this go on and on it will never end, this is what I wrote:

Dear Sally Kern,

I just listened to you “speech” on the evils of homosexuality. Let me start by saying that I am truly disgusted. I can’t recall a single GLBT person who ever killed thousands of people because of religious or political differences. (Referring to your comment about homosexuals being a bigger threat than terrorists) I am an out and proud gay male and I believe you have abused your freedom of speech right. It is one thing to talk about what you believe in but another to use your position of power to push your personal beliefs on others. You represent your state, and here is a news flash, I can guarantee you have many gay residents in your state. It makes me sick to think that you honestly believe you are helping your citizens by pushing your message of hate. I am not anti-religion, I am not un-American, I vote, I pay taxes & I am treated as a 2nd class citizen. As for your comment on “gays taking over government positions” that is just an un-educated view. If we are people do we not deserve equal representation in our government? I believe it was not that long ago that Hitler persecuted certain groups making them second class citizens saying that according to tests Jews, Blacks and other minorities were not actually the same as most humans and so it was ok to kill them in mass numbers because they weren’t to be considered the same as the majority. From where I am sitting you are about 1 step away from that same kind of hatred that lead to the worst abuse of human rights the world has ever seen. If we do not learn from the mistakes of our past we are condemned to repeat it. When the government stops acting in the best interest of its people and starts putting its own beliefs first it is no longer a government for the people. I honestly hope you are not re-elected as that would disgust me more. I am thankful you do not represent my state, however I feel badly for the residents of your state who have to live under such intolerance in their representation. I am sure that this will never actually be read by you, one of your mail clerks will read this and a generic response will be sent as a reply. The corruption of American life and morals is not from homosexuality, it is from people like you who seek to oppress minorities for no other reason then fear and lack of education. You speak about the “Gay Agenda,” how would you know what that is if you are so disconnected from your people that you find it ok to spout your hate filled words. As far as I have seen the only things on the “Gay Agenda” are: 1) Be treated as an equal citizen … its not a hard concept, the bible teaches love not hate. Given your age I would assume you remember the horrible treatment of African-Americans during segregation and the way they were treated, it is no different now with homosexuals. I would of hoped we as a society could learn from the fact that we unfairly restricted the rights of a minority and that change is not something to be feared but embraced, it is the foundation of this country. If it were not for change we would still be under the British Monarchy and would not be known as the “Melting Pot.” In your speech you refer to the increased suicide among homosexuals, did you ever stop to consider that maybe more homosexuals commit suicide each year because spiteful, hating people such as yourself make them feel like they are this disgusting stain on America’s “purity?” If there was less people like you that made homosexuals feel like second class citizens and some kind of social outcast maybe you would see a decrease in the amount of suicides and hate crimes against homosexuals. Every time you preach from your pulpit of hatred and oppression you soak your hands in the blood of GLBT Americans. I hope you can handle that and I wonder how you sleep at night knowing that you are not part of the solution, only part of the problem that is poisoning this nation.

Thank You,

Michael A. Eisinger

As citizens in the USA we have the right to stand up and tell our government officials it is not ok to make homosexuals second class citizens.
