his knee has been giving him problems and he thinks he's going to fail, i've told him the upside of things from my point of view but i'm seeking additional advice from a different perspective..
what if its a pre existing condition?
at this point he is in pcp. i'm sure you know what that means. and not having to worry about him go to iraq was one of my points.!
in my heart i'm almost sure his knee cant endure the stress it would need to. unless they did surgery or maybe just drained his needs, im not sure.. sorry i keep adding stuff i just have so many questions!
for the record im not his recruiter or the recruit himself. im his girlfriend!

EVERYONES knees hurt in MArine Corps Boot Camp...

If he DOES fail completely..(which is unlikely when one is already in Boot Camp) Then He doesnt have to go to Iraq! Yaaay!

He'll also get medical discharge which means some sort of stipend and still retain all the benefits of being a veteran...

But most likely...WORST case scenario? He'll "drop back" to a medical platoon...get rehabbed and THEN finish boot camp...

Ok... first off, I've NEVER met a recruiter that goes and looks for answers regarding a single recruit on YA...

However, if you are a recruiter looking for help for this ONE recruit, with your screen name being xoxo....anything... gotta love DADT...

SOLDIER!!! Your job, career isn't about your feelings. Despite what you may have been led to believe, it's about something larger than you, him, her, me... What the h*ll is your deal?.... Sign off the computer, walk over to your buddy's desk and bend over and tell him to kick you in your a$$ and stop feeling like you owe these recruits something, they signed up let them deal with their decisions. NOT your job to baby them.

Help him to remind himself why he first joined. Ask him to think about and recite to himself out loud what the reason was that first made him want to join. Then reinforce that reason with examples from your point of view and experience in the USMC.

Remind him also that even though he thinks he may fail because his knee has been giving him problems that it's always darkest before dawn and that right when he thinks he's going to fail, the end is right around the corner. Remind him that when he's made it through and is a full-blown marine that he'll look back on this experience and realize that the price paid through boot camp is nothing compared to the lifestyle he's chosen for himself.

In short, help him to look forward into what his future will be like as a marine in the USMC.
