Hey Tabiii,
I have had the same problems with texting, also the alarm on my phone often makes no sound when going off even when set to. turning the phone off and on fixes it but it is very annoying. My font size for my received texts randomly got very small one day. Not impressed with the impression
Walking by my desk and seeing the touchscreen Samsung Impression on my desk, a friend asked for my initial thoughts.
The touchscreen is kind of iffy, I said, which seemed like the whole point of the phone.
Yeah, my friend replied, iPhone must have gotten their touchscreen technology from aliens.
And so it goes for touchscreen phones, forever compared to the powerhouse iPhone, which switches between phone, the Web and hundreds of applications with ease.
The Impression, a new phone to be used on the AT&T Network, suffers in the shadow of the iPhone, another AT&T product.
What the Impression does offer is a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard, which will try to lure all of the folks who are looking for the best of both worlds in terms of user interface. But in the end, the phone seems to be having an identity crisis, which leaves it pinched between the obviously superior iPhone on one end of the smartphone wars and the newly revamped BlackBerry on the other.
The Impression attempts to emulate some interesting features that have been rolled out by its better cousins, like the pressure you feel on the touchscreen, giving the impression of real keys, which the BlackBerry Storm has tried. The resulting effect is more weird than reassuring.
In this day, as well, you can’t offer a smartphone without WiFi, which the Impression lacks, or without applications, which the iPhone rules and BlackBerry is gaining steam on.
Check out the price of the Impression, listed online for $199, and you will soon realize that you can get an iPhone for the same amount of money.
A good alternative
Samsung would be better off marketing the Impression as a poor man’s version of a touchscreen smartphone instead of trying to compete in the same ballpark.
In that space, the Impression would be a good alternative. It does have a great screen and above average capabilities.
But trying to stay with the big boys will do nothing but leave the Samnsung Impression looking shoddy.
Especially when compared to alien technology.
